Terryglass, County Tipperary

About the Festival

Another year has flown by and we are delighted to be back again to celebrate the 19th year of the Terryglass Arts Festival. The 2017 Festival presents an exciting programme packed with fantastic offerings from the world of film, music, literature, theatre, visual arts, street arts, cruises with a difference, historic walks and an extensive workshop programme with many new activities to tempt all ages! With almost 100 events we hope you will find this year’s festival to be bigger and better than ever.

From its small beginnings, the Festival has grown to become an important event in the Irish arts festivals’ calendar and is a key festival in County Tipperary. It is run by a small, voluntary committee which works year-round to make each festival a fun and engaging event that appeals to all.

Highlights this year include, Katie Holly’s poignantly funny play Marion in the Village Hall - a coming of age story sure to have you laughing out loud. On Friday night Kíla, Ireland’s unique trad-fusion group, will rock the rafters in Terryglass church. The Festival’s first visual artist in residence, Jenny Fox, will transport her studio to the old church - go and take a won’t be disappointed!

Saturday evening’s events in the Village Green include street entertainment, live music and a super new fire-show. Sunday’s Festival Village Carnival will feature live bands, local food stalls, craft demonstrations and the juggling supremo Grant Goldie.

Last year the Festival initiated a conversation between composer George Higgs and members of Inland Waterways Ireland (Lough Derg Branch) to develop a collaborative project. Following several creative meetings, they have applied for funding to design and build a Monstrous Amphibious Musical Machine between February and August 2018, to be launched at the 20th Festival. Boat owners or members of the public wishing to become involved or hear more should keep an eye on our Facebook page or email

Of course, none of this could happen without the exceptional and continued support we receive from our funders, sponsors, local businesses and the local community, as well as you, the audience!

We would like to thank everybody who has contributed to this year’s programme. In turn, we would ask you to support our sponsors, without whom this festival could not take place.

We look forward to seeing you in Terryglass, Co. Tipperary
